The driving mechanics can feel slightly arcade-like, lacking the realism and precision of dedicated driving games. While Sleeping Dogs excels in many aspects, it does have a few minor drawbacks. Players can also delve into the vibrant culture by partaking in traditional festivities, such as visiting night markets or practicing tai chi in a park. From engaging in street races and martial arts tournaments to participating in intense police chases, the city feels alive and brimming with opportunities. ![]() The open-world design of Hong Kong offers a plethora of activities and side missions to explore. It truly captures the essence of Hong Kong action films, making each encounter an adrenaline-fueled experience. The combat feels satisfying and impactful, allowing players to seamlessly transition between attacks and counter moves. ![]() Drawing from Wei Shen's martial arts prowess, players can unleash an impressive array of punches, kicks, and grapples. The combat system in Sleeping Dogs shines brightly, incorporating a fluid blend of hand-to-hand combat and brutal takedowns. The Hong Kong backdrop provides a rich and authentic atmosphere, with bustling streets, neon-lit alleys, and a vibrant underworld. The story explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the moral dilemmas faced by an undercover agent. Players assume the role of Wei Shen, an undercover cop infiltrating the notorious Sun On Yee triad organization. The game's most notable strength lies in its captivating narrative and setting. Highly recommended.ฤก7h 1m PlayedSleeping Dogs (2012), an open-world action-adventure game developed by United Front Games, successfully blends elements of martial arts and undercover cop drama. But Sleeping Dogs nails the fundamentals, and for that, it's just a top notch title. So don't expect something as big and ambitious as GTA 5. The visuals hold up pretty well, the sound track is good but repetitive, and the characters are less varied and bombastic than a GTA title. ![]() So it's smaller than a modern GTA game, but thanks to the combat system and the general feel of the city, I actually had more fun here than I do in GTA. It took me 60.5 hours to finish and find everything. The main story itself is short (I'm sure you could finish it in under 15 hours if you wanted to), but then all the side missions, DLC missions and races added within the campaign, and then two DLC separate mini-campaigns (Nightmare in North Point and Year of the Snake) can get you to a solid 50+ hours total. It's one of the rare games that I completed 100%, including all the DLC. Nothing about this game is truly groundbreaking, as you can see where its influences all come from, but it's just really well done and enjoyable. Picture a slightly smaller GTA game, but then add in an Arkham Asylum style combat system and set the whole thing in Hong Kong, with a solid storyline. I went into this game knowing almost nothing about it, and I had a blast. 41h 8m Played"A man who never eats pork buns is never a whole man." Sleeping Dogs is a cult classic for a reason. ![]()
